Hurricane Sandy to Hit Westchester Leave by Halloween

Batten down the hatches this weekend, as it looks like we’re going to have another Hurricane makes its way far enough north to drench Westchester in the next few days. Hurricane Sandy, affectionately nicknamed Frankenstorm because of its unfortunate Halloween timing, looks like it could hit us as early as Sunday.

The storm’s effects are said to likely last through at least Tuesday. Here’s hoping that they end Tuesday and don’t continue into Wednesday! Last year’s freak snowstorm on Halloween was enough, but the tail end of a hurricane or tropical storm would put an even bigger damper on trick-or-treating in Westchester in 2012!

Con Ed is apparently “ready” to take on the effects of the storm, and hopefully they have it in mind that the *most important* thing is going to be making it safe and possible for Westchester children to be out on the streets trick-or-treating by Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, the probability of the storm hitting us by Tuesday has increased to over 90%, so despite how poor the weather reporting has been around here of late (I’ve had multiple instances of it raining on me while I’m looking at the weather.com app on my phone telling me there is 0% chance of rain) it looks like we’re going to be hit by something.

My granddaughter has been trick-or-treating in Bedford Hills with some friends the last couple of years, and last year braved the snow for a short time and managed to do a bit. This year she may have to stay closer to home, around Ossining, Briarcliff Manor or Croton-on-hudson&beds=0&baths=0&min=0&max=100000000&map=0&quick=1&submit=Search" title="Search Properties in Croton-on-hudson">Croton-on-hudson, but we’ll see! Stay safe everyone!
